Modern times at VW

With the launch of the T4, the era of rear-engine and rear-wheel drive ended for the VW Bus (/Transporter) after 40 years.

In 1990, there was a switch to front-engine and front-wheel drive (optionally all-wheel drive), allowing for a continuous cargo area.

The torsion bar suspension invented by Ferdinand Porsche, which had already proven itself in numerous models such as the Bus Type 2 (T1 and T2), was also used here on the front axle.

H&R is now producing the 27 and 28 mm diameter anti-roll bars (for front and rear axle) available again for vehicles manufactured from January 1996 onwards.

For high roof vehicles, campers etc. a rear axle stabilizer with 30 mm diameter is also available.
